Stephen L. Caruso Beloved husband of Dolores “Doody” C. Hanssen. Loving father of Marc Caruso, Julie (Mike) Keller, Sue (Allan) Klock and the late Michael Paul Caruso. Cherished grandfather of Michael David Caruso; Stephen Michael, Daniel Joseph, Matthew William and Michael Patrick Keller; Julie Ann, William Overton and Robert Allan Klock. Preceded in death by his parents Angelina and Stefano and siblings Sam, Lena, Lucien, Jeannette, Charles and Anna.

Graduate of Illinois State University in 1950. Then obtained his Master’s degree in 1955 from the University of Illinois in Champaign.
He and “Doody” were married on June 3, 1952
Stephen was an educator in Mt. Prospect School District 57 from 1954 – 1987 serving as a teacher, coach and principal. He was the owner and director of Echo Hill Ranch Day Camp, from 1960 – 1976.
He was an avid tennis player, golfer and talented artist, winemaker, cook, enthusiastic traveler and restored a 1929 Pontiac. A diehard Cub and Blackhawk fan, he enjoyed all sports. He played minor league baseball in the Boston Red Sox organization. A true renaissance man.
Visitation Saturday 4:00 PM until Memorial Services 6:00 PM at Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Rd., at Northwest Hwy., Mt. Prospect.
